Direction 4 of seven

Research & Discovery

Established

Powered by Synapse

Turning open questions into knowledge someone reviewed — instead of unvetted machine text published at machine speed.

Who it serves

Readers of the Research journal; organizations that need real answers.

The experience

Every organization has a researcher. Quick questions are answered inline; deep ones are commissioned to Synapse, AGA's shared research engine, which works for hours or days and reports back. What gets published passes a human review gate first — then it's yours to read in the Research journal.

Strongest evidence

A dedicated, auditable review ledger — a publish decision cannot be recorded outside the transaction that performs it.

For the technically curious
  • backend/web/review.py (review_decisions ledger)
  • aga/plugins/research_manager/ (search_research + commission_research)
  • aga/tools/synapse_client.py (Synapse integration, merged on main)

What we measure

Reviewed-publication rate. Publications approved through the human review gate per month, with the approve/reject ledger public on request.

Definition approved 2026-08-27; not yet instrumented — no live counters in Phase 1

Boundaries — what AGA does not claim

  • Synapse commissioning is a controlled pilot — agent-facing, no public research-request surface yet.
  • Nothing reaches the journal without passing the human gate.

Inside this direction

  • Synapse Controlled pilot

The shared research engine at the center — an engine, not a peer direction.

  • Research programs Established

Per-organization researchers authoring toward the journal.
